Compare the Hario V60 Pro Pour Over Set and Starter Set 02. Ceramic vs plastic, paper filters, and which kit fits your brewing style.
Quick Answer
If you want a ceramic dripper and a larger filter supply, choose the V60 Pro Pour Over Set. If you prefer a lighter plastic dripper and a 700 ml server, the Starter Set 02 is a budget-friendly pick.
Dripper Material: Ceramic vs Plastic
The dripper material affects heat retention and durability. The Pro Set includes a ceramic V60 dripper, which holds heat well and feels sturdy. The Starter Set uses a polypropylene plastic dripper, which is lighter and less prone to breaking.
Ceramic drippers are heavier, so they may not be ideal for travel. Plastic drippers are more portable but may not retain heat as effectively. Consider your brewing environment and whether you'll be moving your kit around.
Server Size and Material
Both sets include a glass server with a lid. The Pro Set features a 600 ml server, while the Starter Set includes a 700 ml server. If you often brew larger batches, the Starter Set's extra capacity is an advantage.
Both servers are made of heatproof borosilicate glass, so they handle hot water safely. The Pro Set's server is slightly smaller, but it still suits most single-serve or two-cup brews.
Paper Filters Included
The Pro Set comes with 100 V60 paper filters, while the Starter Set includes 40 filters. If you brew daily, the Pro Set saves you from buying filters sooner. The Starter Set's smaller quantity is fine for occasional use or if you already have filters on hand.
